Yannick Ferreira Carrasco open to Europe return during the summer

Belgium international Yannick Ferreira Carrasco has acknowledged that he could make a comeback to European football in the summer, should the right offer come by. The attacker was linked with the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan, and Inter Milan during the winter transfer window but a deal failed to materialise with Dalian Yifang insistent on keeping hold of his services.

Speaking to reporters, Carrasco acknowledged that he was keen on making a European comeback at the turn of the year but that was not meant to be after Yifang snubbed the opportunity to sanction his sale. Nonetheless, he has not given up hope regarding the same and he is hoping of returning to his home continent in the summer, he said: “I would love to return to Europe. A lot of clubs were interested in me. We tried to find a solution in January that would enable me to leave Dalian Yifang. But I can understand the club's thinking. They wanted me to stay.”

“Carrasco has been touted for a probable switch to the Serie A during the summer and Inter are understood to be among the leading admirers" . The Nerazzurri are currently assessing the future of Ivan Perisic, who had sought a potential winter move away from the club and a move for Carrasco could enhance the former’s prospects of pursuing “the desired challenge elsewhere" .

Meanwhile, Inter have experienced a difficult run since the winter break, but they are still on course to reach the Champions League for the second season running. The Nerazzurri are currently third on the standings with a six-point advantage over fifth-placed AS Roma, but they have plenty of work to do with key games against Lazio and Atalanta after the international break. Both teams have got the better of them once this season and they need to perform at their best to come up with maximum points.
