Former Inter Milan defender Lucio has said that his decision to move to Italian champions Juventus was extremely good. The 32-year-old defender decided to bring an end to his short three-year spell with Inter Milan to an end at the start of last season.

He was one of the arrivals at Juventus along with Andrea Pirlo. Both these players have proven to be extremely influential in helping Juventus win their 28th league title and also their first league title since 2003. Lucio enjoyed tremendous success at Inter Milan after moving on a free transfer from Bayern Munich. He was the main member of the Inter Milan team that won the treble back in 2010.

He has said that he could have easily stayed at Inter Milan, but the fact that he was able to enjoy a new challenge at Juventus made the offer irresistible. He has now said that he has no regrets about moving to Juventus, who are looking to dominate Europe once again after completing their resurgence in the form of the Italian Serie A title last season. The Brazilian defender has said that Inter Milan are in a transitional phase and does not expect them to be challenging for titles anytime soon.
“I’m somebody that always honours the shirt that I wear.

Juventus have returned to being a great team and our mentality must be a winning one. I’m now at the disposal of the Coach in order to adapt to the systems he employs. We know that it won’t be easy to win in Europe, but I think Juventus is already amongst the best. We can aim for the maximum in the Champions League, as well as Serie A and the Coppa Italia,” said Lucio in the pre-season tour for Juventus. Juventus are linked with a move for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

LUCIO BACKS LUCAS

Brazilian defender Lucio has said that his club Inter Milan should persuade enough to sign Sao Paulo starlet Lucas either in the January transfer window or in the summer.

Lucas has been rated as one of the hottest young prospects in world football, despite being relatively young. As a result, only the top clubs in Europe are expected to match the transfer fee demanded by Sao Paulo. Inter Milan will be looking to sign the player, who will have no time settling to life in Italy due to the numerous Brazilians plying their trade in the region.

Further Brazilian defender Lucio is also on the ranks at Inter Milan, and he has been the major advocate of the club to sign the youngster.

Lucio says that Lucas is one of the hottest talents and that he has not seen a better talent at this age than Lucas. The 19 year old is expected to emulate another Brazilian sensation Neymar of Santos. Currently, clubs are linked with a £ 35 million move for Neymar, but that transfer fee is expected to rise for Lucas.

The Inter Milan defender has said that there is every chance that Lucas could develop into another Kaka. Kaka was signed by AC Milan at a relatively young age and he went on to lift the world famous titles like the World Player of the Year. Lucio is of the opinion that Lucas could very much be similar to Kaka in the future.

AC Milan later sold Kaka for a hefty £ 64 million fee. “I know Lucas very well and Inter ought to run to sign him straight away. He is a wide attacker with a great deal of quality, all combined with exceptional pace. I remember during Copa America training, he’d often face Dani Alves during games between ranks and it was always a fiery battle. I think Lucas is better suited to Italian and European football than Neymar,” Lucio said.
