Samir Handanovic believes Inter Milan’s draw versus Barcelona will help them improve

Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic believes the club’s recent Champions League draw against Barcelona will help them improve further. The Nerazzurri managed a hard-fought 1-1 stalemate against the Blaugrana in midweek and this puts them in a strong position to reach the round of 16 with two games left to play.

Speaking after the encounter, Handanovic acknowledged that he had make an error of judgement in the lead up to the Blaugrana’s equaliser but such moments should only help the team to improve as they seek to reach the heights of their olden days, he said: “I made a mistake on their goal, I wasn't in the right position even if the ball went by three players. Barcelona played better than we did, in the first half above all but we could have shown something extra. Such matches will make us improve so that's a good thing. After our equaliser, the support from San Siro made me think that we could go on and win it like against Tottenham.”

With the stalemate, “Inter have seven points after four group stage matches and they have a three-point advantage over Tottenham Hotspur, “ who are currently in the third spot. The Nerazzurri are scheduled to face Spurs on “the road in their “next meeting and anything less than a win for the hosts could see them go through to the knockout phase with the stronger head-to-head record.

Meanwhile, they are right in the Serie A mix with a six-point gap to league leaders Juventus and they have the opportunity to maintain or close the gap when they face Atalanta on their travels this weekend. Juventus, on the other hand, are scheduled to face AC Milan on the road and the game should prove a tricky prospect for the holders with the hosts coming off a three-match league winning streak.
