Juventus chief speaks on Mauro Icardi speculation

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has said that the club are content with the striking options at hand for the forthcoming campaign. The Bianconeri have been regularly linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi this summer, but so far, there has been no breakthrough in terms of a transfer deal for the Argentine.

In a report covered by Calciomercato, Paratici refused to talk about the recent speculation linking the Bianconeri with Icardi and stated that the club have the centre-forward department covered with the presence of Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic, he said: ''Icardi? Right now he's an Inter player and we don't talk about it. We have Higuain and Mandzukic who are great attackers: I wouldn't talk about others, but about ours. We are happy with those we have."

Earlier this month, the Italian champions were looking to pursue Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United and they appeared close to finalising a swap deal where Paulo Dybala would head in the opposite direction. However, Dybala showed little intention of making the move to Old Trafford and that convinced United to pull the plug on the proposed move.

Lukaku has since made the switch to Inter Milan under new boss Antonio Conte and that has triggered speculation over the future of Icardi, who has been deemed surplus to requirements. The Argentine has been a consistent performer for the Nerazzurri over the years but he does not appear in the plans of Conte after the disciplinary concerns during the previous campaign.

Apart from Juventus, Napoli have also been credited with an interest in the former Sampdoria man, but a transfer needs to happen quickly with just three days remaining before the Serie A transfer deadline. Otherwise, the striker may have to pursue a fresh challenge in a new league and reports have suggested that Paris Saint-Germain could make a swoop for his signature.
