Jonathan Believes Club Should Not Part With Mazzarri

Inter Milan defender Jonathan has stated that the club should not part company with manager Walter Mazzarri. The manager came from Napoli with a reputation of achieving a lot of success with limited funds at his disposal. Things were extremely rosy in the first half of the season when Inter looked like returning back to Champions League football and even returning to the top of the table. However, the second half of the season has been extremely poor, as the club has been drawing their way to the finish. Prior to the final game of the season, Inter look set to finish in the fifth place.

This will provide the club with Europa league football for next season. Since the owners do not appear to be satisfied with the results, it has been speculated heavily that Mazzarri would be sacked after the end of the season. The manager himself has admitted that his future remains unclear after a poor season, but Jonathan says that Mazzarri is one of the top managers the world and Inter should consider retaining him. He says that the poor performances of clubs in the second half of the season are largely down to the young squad, which lacks experience.

“We should definitely continue with Mazzarri next year. I am 100 per cent sure we should carry on with him. Clearly the critics at the moment are putting him under pressure and it has even been written that we players are not behind him. That is not true, we want to move forward with the current boss. He talks to everyone and we all talk to him all the time. He is a Coach who gives confidence to his players, he is prepared and he always wants to win,” said the defender, who has made 28 appearances this season.
