INJURIES COST INTER

After suffering a dip in form in the last few weeks, the Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni has blamed the huge number of injuries that his team have suffered during this period.

Inter Milan looked like being the only team capable of challenging Juventus for the title this season, as they made a remarkable recovery from the problems they faced in the last few seasons. Since winning the treble in 2010, Inter Milan have been in a major transitional phase. Despite this, Stramaccioni has been able to get them back up the table once again.

Even though Juventus still remain the favourites for the title this season due to their significant advantage over the chasing pack, it is believed that Inter Milan still have a chance of winning the title. However, injuries have decimated the squad in recent weeks according to the manager, who is hoping to add a couple of players during the January transfer window. Suspensions is also a major worry for the manager ahead of the match with Genoa during the weekend. The club has managed just two victories in the last four matches, which is a source of concern for the manager. He will be hoping to put together a consistent run of form starting with the Genoa match.

"It will be an important match but, unfortunately, we're not in great shape. We lost Yuto Nagatomo and Luca Castellazzi last night in the Coppa Italia game against Verona and there are a few other injuries. Should Fredy Guarin's suspension be upheld then we'd be a bit short in midfield too seeing that Esteban Cambiasso isn't fit either," said the Inter Milan manager. The Italian Serie A will be taking a break after this match and will be resuming only in the New Year. Inter Milan's first match in the New Year will be a visit to Udinese.
