Former Liverpool ace talks up Ivan Perisic’s quality

Former Liverpool midfielder Igor Biscan has talked up the qualities of Ivan Perisic after his standout performance against England during the second semi-final of the World Cup. The Croatians found themselves 1-0 down to the Three Lions within the fifth minute of the game but he managed to comeback and win in extra-time after a goal and an assist from Perisic.

Speaking to Betstars, Biscan heaped praise on his compatriot and highlighted that the qualities on display at the World Cup were the ones which attracted interest from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho last summer, he said: “It says a lot about a player when Jose Mourinho wants to sign them. Ivan Perisic certainly has enough quality to play there [at Manchester United]. Similar to Rebic, he is very direct, very strong and he can score goals with both feet. He provides guaranteed quality and it wouldn’t take much for him to adapt his game to the Premier League. Croatia’s attacking-minded players will be a real handful.”

Perisic had been the subject of concrete interest from United during the 2017 summer transfer window but ultimately they could not come to terms regarding the transfer fee, which eventually pulled the plug on the deal. The Croatian followed to pen a fresh long-term contract with Inter Milan and he appears certain to stay put after the Nerazzurri qualified for next season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, Croatia have qualified for the World Cup for the very first time and the current crop of players have already eclipsed the efforts of the 1998 golden generation which progressed to the semi-finals during their debut tournament. The Croats are now scheduled to face France in the crunch final on Sunday but before that, England and Belgium are expected to tussle it out for the third position at the World Cup.
