Inter MIlan slump back down

Inter Milan slumped to yet another poor defeat in the league after a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Cagliari. This forced the manager, Walter Mazzarri, to issue an apology to the fans. Many questioned the club’s decision to offer Mazzarri a new contract extension in the summer despite having performed poorly last season. The club failed to achieve its ambition of reaching the top three once again. It looks like another poor season beckons for the 2010 European champions. They have managed just two victories after six matches the season. This defeat against Cagliari does not bode well ahead of next week’s tough match against Fiorentina.

Inter Match v Dnipro to go ahead

Inter Milan begin their European campaign this season with a match against Dnipro. After having competed in the Champions League for several seasons, Inter have been going through a troubled spell where they have been unable to qualify for this Premier competition. Instead, they will once again be playing in the Europa League on Thursday nights. Inter come the back of a very good 7-0 thrashing of Sassuolo. This will give them a lot of confidence, but Walter Mazzarri will be aware that they had beaten Sassuolo by a similar score last season only to end up finishing fifth in the league.

Inter Milan Faces TOugh Match

Inter Milan’s opening match of the next season is against Torino, a club that concluded the previous campaign sitting on the 7th spot but the Italian manager stated his opinion concerning the 1st match of the campaign as he went on saying that it will be a tough team and place to perform well against.

Mazzarri Signs Contract Extension

In a move that largely appears to provide the players and the manager with confidence going into the new campaign, Inter Milan have announced that the manager Walter Mazzarri has signed a one-year extension to his contract. The former Napoli manager came to the San Siro on a two-year contract. He was widely expected to leave the club back into the Champions League in his first season, but that has proved very difficult indeed. Still, there has been improvement from Inter in every area of the pitch.
