Barcelona Close to a Swap Deal with Inter Milan Involving Depay

According to Gerard Romero, Inter Milan and Barcelona are working on the possibility of a swap deal that involves Joaquin Correa and Memphis Depay in the ongoing transfer window. The two clubs are already thinking about swapping midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and Franck Kessie this month. It appears like another operation is being negotiated by the two football clubs.

At Barcelona, Depay has fallen out of favor under Xavi Hernandez. His contract expires in the summer and the Catalans are ready to part ways with him this month if they can replace him with another forward. On the other hand, Athletico Madrid also plans to sign the Netherlands international but is not ready to include Yannick Carrasco as the deal’s part, while the Blaugrana are putting in their vote for the Belgian international.

It has paved the way for Inter Milan for exploring the possibility of a transfer with the Nerazzurri allegedly preparing to offer Joaquin Correa in exchange. The player from Argentina arrived at Inter Milan in 2021 from Lazio but hasn’t clicked as expected. Correa scored 9 goals in 57 matches for Italians and set up more, with 6 of the 14 goal involvements coming in the campaign that was already in progress.
The 28-year-old player has just started Serie A matches this season. This shows that Simone Inzaghi, the manager doesn’t completely trust the versatile forward. Hence, the possibility of an exchange deal can be on the table. Gerard Romero adds that the two football clubs are quite close to sealing the operation, even though Depay might have to okay the transfer operation which was challenging. So, it is to be seen if the deal is going to progress and the two players become a part of Barcelona.
