MAZZARRI WINS PLAUDITS

Former Napoli manager Walter Mazzarri has been receiving a lot of plaudits in recent weeks for the work he has done with Inter Milan so far this campaign. Inter Milan have been one of the major disappointments in the Italian league for the last two years.

Since the departure of José Mourinho, they have been on a constant decline in all areas of the pitch. The gamble taken by president Massimo Moratti to appoint youth coach Andrea Stramaccioni as the first team manager did not work out as he would have hoped.

Inter finished in the 10th position last season, which was one of their most disappointing campaigns of all time. Inter decided to go in for the experienced Walter Mazzarri, who had been coming on the back of four successful campaigns with Napoli. He was expected to improve Inter substantially, but nobody would have expected such an impact from the 51-year-old. He has been able to get 10 points from their opening four matches, while their only dropped points came in the 1-1 draw with current champions Juventus.

Inter once again managed to extend their brilliant form after a 7-0 win over newly promoted Sassuolo during the weekend. Even after this win, Mazzarri has said that he thinks Inter can improve even further.

"What matters most to us is how we play, how much improvement we make, how many mistakes we make. What matters, besides the result, is that we go into games with the right approach and we're doing that very well. Of course we have ambitions, you always do, because you can always keep improving - that's precisely what we're looking to do. There are lots of players showing improvement in this team and they have the potential to achieve great things," said Mazzarri after the weekend's match.
