INTER MILAN WANT DI MARIA

Since the acquisition of Inter Milan by the Suning Holdings group earlier this year, the club has insisted on competing in the transfer market for some of the best players in the world.

Despite having interest in James Rodriguez thrown out during the summer, the club is making another serious bid to lure the Columbian away from Madrid. However, reports say the club is preparing a former Madrid star Angel Di Maria as the option in case Rodriguez rejects them for the second time.

The Serie A side spent big during the summer to sign Antonio Candreva, Gabriel Barbosa, and Joao Mario but want more football players of international repute to join in as they rebuild the club to former heights.

Inter sacked recently hired manager in Frank de Boer after only 14 games as the club’s target remains very high. New manager Stefano Pioli wants the Paris St. Germain star particularly as he struggles for form.

Di Maria was a force to reckon with at Madrid but eventually left for Manchester United to play under former Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal. As he could not make impact, aside citing personal reasons, he left for PSG. However, his form has slowed of recent with him not getting any goal this term. French media report that the Argentina international is disillusioned, and might be open to an exit plan.

Though Di Maria is three years older, he represents a cheaper but equally talented player compared to Rodriguez. Rodriguez would cost Inter £72.5 million while the Milan-based outfit could easily get Di Maria for about £50 million. The club’s financiers are obviously willing to spend as they plot the return of the club to heights reached in 2009/2010 under Jose Mourinho, where the underdogs became champions of Europe.
