Serie A giants Inter Milan bow out of the Europa League with a 3-2 loss to Hapoel Beer-Sheva on Thursday night football.

The Israeli side had defeated them at the San Siro and they came back from two goals down to thrash the 2010 Champions League winners.

Inter started the game well as they needed a win to continue in the continental affair. Goals from talisman Mauro Icardi and Marcelo Brozovic gave the Italian side the lead, but their calamitous season worsened when Lucio Maranhao pulled one back. Inter’s night could not have gotten worse as goalkeeper Samir Handanovic was sent off and the hosts equalized through an Anthony Nwakaeme penalty kick.

The Israeli noticed the despair in the Italian camp so they intensified the pressure. Ben Sahar got the match winner in the last minute, as the 10-man Inter squad could not handle the pressure to the end. The three points claimed saw the Middle East side move to second place alongside Southampton. However, with the English club losing 1-0 at Sparta Prague, they place their qualification hopes on the last round of games.

Sparta qualified for the next round after Zimbabwe international Costa Nhamoinesu scored the only goal against The Saints in the 11th minute. The victory was a memorable one for the club as it is the first time in over 30 years that any Czech side defeated a Premier League side home. The victory sets up a real cracker between Southampton and Hapoel as both sides fight for the last qualification spot in the group.

In other games in Group A, Fenerbahce defeated Zorya 2-0 while Manchester United gave manager Jose Mourinho his biggest win since taking over at Old Trafford during the summer with a 4-0 humiliation of Feyenoord.
