Gabriel Barbosa to be loaned out from Inter Milan next season

The agent of Gabriel Barbosa has revealed that his client could pursue a temporary move to one of England or Spain during this summer’s transfer window.

The 20-year-old impressed alongside the likes of Gabriel Jesus at the summer Olympics last year, and this pushed him to accept a move to San Siro ahead of potential suitors in the Premier League.

Gabriel has since failed to live up to his high expectations, and he managed just nine league appearances last season, netting a solitary goal in the process. Inter are due to develop their squad under the new Chinese consortium, but Gabriel does not appear to be in their plans for now with agent Wagner Ribeiro citing that the striker could leave on a season-long loan.

He told Portuguese outlet Record: “Inter want to send him out on loan and there are several teams interested, both in Spain and in England. But nobody has called me from Porto, so that is a lie.”

The exciting prospect managed to keep a decent pass percentage of 86 during his first season in the Italian top flight. However, his short accuracy of just 40 percent in front of goal hindered his chances of earning regular playing time ahead of the likes of Mauro Icardi. Gabriel is currently contracted with the San Siro outfit until the summer of 2021, and he will get plenty of opportunities in the future, should he managed to regain his scoring streak on his temporary stint.

Manchester United and Chelsea were some of the high-profile English clubs, who were after his services following an impressive Olympics, where Brazil were crowned as champions. He has already notched two goals in his short international career with Brazil, and he will be hoping to regain his spot by playing on a regular basis in the upcoming season.
